That’s where I first learnt to kitesurf. Since then I have travelled the world to find the most epic kitesurf and snowkite destinations. I love experiencing new spots and sharing them with the world through my writing and photography.

Karen is a freelance travel writer and professional photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. Her articles and photographs have appeared in a variety of newspapers and magazines, where she focuses on active travel. Memorable adventures include: Trekking up Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, cycling alongside the Danube River in Austria, volunteering at a brown bear refuge in Croatia, and witnessing the mountain gorillas in Uganda.
This year Karen has been heavily involved in the bike riding scene, including working part time as Publications Coordinator with Bicycle Victoria (a not-for-profit organisation whose mission statement is to get more people cycling more often). Her articles about bike riding have appeared in Ride On, Bicycling Australia, and YOURLifeChoices.
In November 2009, Karen received an OPSO National Media Award (Older People Speak Out) for her article Buckley’s Choice (which appeared in the winter edition of YOURLifeChoices magazine). This was a profile on Graham Buckley, a remarkable 72-year-old from Alice Springs who takes unprivileged and disadvantaged Aboriginal boys on the Great Victorian Bike Ride each year.
Karen’s next major undertaking will be volunteering her way around the world, a project that has been brewing for some time and will hopefully get underway early in 2011. In the meantime Karen’s more than happy to continue exploring her own incredible country, Australia. Trips in 2010 will include exploring Kangaroo Island, volunteering with Conservation Volunteers along the Great Ocean Road, and bike riding with Remote Outback Cycle Tours from Alice Springs to Darwin.

Caroline Onarheim is one high flying, kite-loving chica! When she’s not out getting massive air snowkiting in the Scandinavian mountains she’s busy ripping it up on the water kitesurfing!
Born in Norway to some of the most perfect powder in the world, she loves grabbing a group of mates and heading to the snow. Caroline says snow-kiting is the ultimate sport: it has snow, height, and tons of hot, single boys! The only thing missing is more girls to get in on the action!

Tamie loves the city life in Melbourne, the endless shopping and options for coffees with friends, but nothing compares to the greater outdoors. She attempts to satisfy her outdoor craving, by riding her bike around the city and running the biggest hill Melbourne has to offer, though that barely scratches the surface.
At every opportunity she escapes the city and immerses herself in the beach, the mountains, the river – that’s when she is in her element. She is passionate and dedicated and loves exploring with like-minded chicks.
Her gran plan is to publish a magazine for girls who surf and snowboard. Currently the magazine is online Now Rip This. Here you can find articles on board sports, nutrition, fitness, style, travel and fun events.
