What are you doing in honor of Earth Day, April 22, to help make the world a better place?
Actually, we should all try and treat the world like everyday is Earth Day, but sometimes we need a little reminder and that’s why there’s a day dedicated to looking after Mother Earth.

There’s no time like the present to change ways and do a few things that offer some relief to our planet. After all, we want to keep exploring it for many, many years to come.
At ExplorerGirls.com we don’t claim to know everything there is about being Green and living an eco-friendly life, but are always looking to pass on info and ideas to help one another act a little greener.
We have a few ideas to kick of Earth Day and help make the following year even better than the last, but if you have anything to contribute to the list like changing your lightbulbs, lending a hand to clean-up organizations and so on, please do so by adding a comment to the end of the article!
Let’s work together and share the knowledge of how we can all be environmentally friendly while traveling, exploring and enjoying sport around the world.
TRAVEL
1. Give back by offsetting your carbon footprint. (www.carbonfootprint.com)
2. Make sure to recycle even when you’re not at home. Most parks and public places offer recycled trash reciprocals.
3. Always take your trash with you. Don’t Litter!
4. Rent bikes (or bring a portable fold up bike ) to explore new cities, in stead of using cabs and buses.
5. Carry a water bottle to fill up along the way and stop buying water, creating more trash.

SPORT
1. Take set trails to the beach, creating your own can hurt vegetation and increase erosion.
2. Use recycled materials when possible. (recycled boardbags, leashes, surfboards, travel bags, shoes)
3. Use eco-friendly wax for surfing and snowboarding.
4. Get into cycling and skateboarding! (No gas required)
5. Find products made with sustainable materials, like bamboo.

LIFE
1. Plant a tree or start your own veggie garden.
2. Drive a hybrid (www.hybridcars.com) or electric car.
3. Close the loop and buy recycled toilet paper and napkins.
4. Recycle your bath and washing water into gardens.
5. Recycle your clothes to charity or friends.
If you know of an Earth Day event, list it here or find an Earth Day event around the globe near you at the Earth Day Network. You can also help contribute and be part of a Billion Actions of Green on the website.
Happy Earth Day 2009!
