The talented trio of musicians that make up the band John Butler Trio, have worked hard to earn the recognition and airplay on mainstream radio April Uprising has brought them. It was a little over ten years ago when lead singer and guitarist John Butler was busking on the streets of Fremantle, West Australia dreaming of hearing his sounds on the airwaves.

After selling 3500 self-funded cassettes, the profits served as the foundation which helped John Butler Trio become Australia’s most successful independent artist ever.  At first it was only independent radio stations who supported them forcing John Butler to form his own label Jarrah Records which has now sold over a million CD’s in Australia.

With musical influences including Bob Marley, De LA Soul, Jimi Hendrix, Beastie Boys, Jane’s Addiction and Red Hot Chilli Peppers and political influences Martin Luther King Jr.and Noam Chomsky to name a few it’s no wonder there’s a lot of meaning and spirit behind every song.
