“Sometimes you just have to get away with the girls!” narrates Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City 2 trailer.  I agree and that is exactly why this movie is entertaining. Whether you are a die hard SATC follower, a devotee after seeing the first flick or a total newcomer to the scene with SATC2 you are sure to share a few laughs with the girls while watching this film.

The movie may be catching a lot of flack from the critics, but it seems to me “a chill pill is in order”.  Since when should we be taking anything from the writers at SATC seriously? I was never a devoted fan of the shows while on TV, only catching an episode from time to time and becoming a bigger fan after enjoying SATC the movie, but it seems to me Carrie has always been selfish, Samantha has always been a slut, Charlotte a prude and Miranda a total scatter brain. 

Nothing new here! The girls have always had the most outlandish sense of fashion and they’ve lived off one liner jokes that deal with all kinds of relationship and women’s issues.

This latest film sequel adding to the ninety-four episodes which aired on HBO between 1998 and 2004 seems to be nothing but a continuum of the girls love for ridiculous fashion, spending time with each other and managing their super high sex drives.  

When I step into a theater to watch a fictional movie I’m not looking for reality! SATC characters do a wonderful job at taking you away from your own realism, daily duties and troubles and sucking you into theirs.

As the girls leave famed New York City after an extravagant million dollar gay wedding featuring Liza Minnelli and arrive in what we are to believe is Abu Dhabi (actually shot in Morocco) for an all expenses paid trip we are taken on an even more eccentric adventure with everything from luxurious hotel rooms with private butlers for each woman, camel rides through the desert for a posh afternoon lunch, shopping sessions at spice markets and endless hot men surrounding the girls.

I confess I enjoyed stepping into their outrageous reality for almost 150 minutes.  Any longer though and I was going to need a bathroom break!

Whether you’re a young woman who just wants to enjoy the senseless couture fashion which litters the screen, a middle aged woman dying to see more sexy older hot men, a mother struggling with motherhood or a woman dealing with menopause…the film caters for all!

SATC has always been OTT (over the top) and SATC 2 does a wonderful job at blowing a 10 million dollar wardrobe budget and introducing conversations that are still going around the cocktail table and morning TV shows weeks after it’s opening.

If you’re looking for some fun with the girls and Abu Dhabi is just too far away then I suggest having a few Cosmopolitans and jetting off to enjoy SATC 2 but, please try not to take it too seriously!
