Hi Everybody, I am planning a road trip though Europe from England. Although I have never done a road trip before I love Driving. Time is not a factor; I am self-employed and can be gone for months if I wish. I would like to go to Krakow Poland, the Swiss Alps, and the ultimate but unlikely destination would be Moscow red square. I need advice on al things travelling – passport rules, best routes and must see places to go. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

Sounds like fun! With a UK passport you'll be fine throughout the EU, but Russia (and probably Belorussia & Ukraine) is a bitch. Basically the Russians want to know exactly where you're going, where you're staying & when before they'll consider giving you a visa...
I guess the joy of a road trip is that you can go where the mood takes you :) Do you like mountains, beaches, cities? Campng, hostels, or hotels? Croatia & Bosnia are beautiful if you get that far, Krakow is gorgeous, as are the alps :) Budapest & Prague are wonderful cities full of history, Slovakia has more castles than you can poke a stick at, and the Tatra mountains are beautful too. Berlin is fascinating & a lot of fun :)
Will you drive a left or right hand drive car? Right hand drive may be more familiar, but harder when you're on the wrong side of the road!
I'd say start by getting a big map for inspiration, and maybe a Lonely Planet Europe on a Shoestring or something - see what jumps out at you :)

Thanks some usfull info there. I have decided to shorten the distence so i can Explore more indepth Where i will go. After all I not likely to cover the same place again... (do new things all the time ands all) Right what dose everyone think... bear with me its a long list lol. I want to cover a maximum of 200miles a day and probaly travel everyother day to keep my energy up. Is that enough/to much milege? I think i wanna rough it I think... camping is always the way to go for as many stop offs as i will need (Im poor lol) These are the places i defenetly wanna see and the order i think i wanna go. but i would like to know if anyone has any sugestions on must see/vists. Also my must see's are REALY!!! spread out so i need stop offs.... I need insperation people! - Swiss alps, Budapest, Romania, Slovakia, Krakow (auschwitz), Prague, Home lol How long do you recon I should give myself How much do you recon I will need for this trip if its on a shu string? camping and fuel? Where should i be visiting on this rought? Thanks guys i would apriciate any help you can give me. |
