Good Ol' Germany

I'm currently spending time at my parents's place, who live in Germany, where I grew up and lived for 20 of my 24 years, but I never really considered it home. Never really felt like I belonged here. As soon as I moved to the UK when I was 20, it all made much more sense.

But after my first year at Aston Uni in Birmingham I just HAD to get away from it all. For one, I grew up in a small town with people with even smaller brains, which is probably the reason why I never felt comfortable when I was growing up. Anyways.

I had worked like 12 years to finally study at a British university - this might sound conceeded, but I always believed I need and deserve to be and do more than just the average thing. I didnt wanna study in Germany, especially with the education system being changed all the time and the Bachelor & Master degrees introduced - which i support, but not when Bachelor (3-4 years) being compared to Vordiplom which takes 1.5 years to get and Master (another 2 years on top of Bachelor) to Diplom (another 3.5 years on top of the 1.5 years). So its actually more time spent on a masters degree, at least in Germany, cuz Bachelors are just frowned upon, cuz people actually forget that u learn SHITLOADS more in 3-4 years of the normal Bachelor studies than in 1.5 years of the Vordiplom!!

So that was a no-no for me, especially knowing that I can make enough cash as a single woman who doesnt mind flat/house sharing with a good bachelor degree. So I went off to study at Aston University.

But being as old as I am and the freshers (and actually everyone including the PhD students) being YOUNGER than me, I had enough after 9 months, so I return to my parents for a few weeks of rest. Have been in contact with all my mates from the UK and stuff, but its just sooo nice to not have to face all the drama that hanging out with 18 and 19 year old people brings.

I dont even feel like seein my friends from here. Weird. I just like being alone. :)

I'm dreading going back to Birmingham , cuz its just a very hideous city and considerin that it calls itself the 2nd city of the UK, its DEAD BORING! I chose to live there over London cuz I am not too much of a fan of LDN. But I thought B'ham would at least have some of those advantages that big cities bring - LOADS of places to go out and LOADS of variety of entertainment. I was esp interested in dancing Salsa, which is abslutely MASSIVE in LDN. But there's like next to nothin regardin Salsa in Brum :S

BUTTTT even tho I'm bitchin about the city and I cant wait to go on to my placement in 2009/10 to explore some other city or country even I am kind of lookin forward to going back to Brum as well, cuz I will have a bigger, but cheaper room, which I cant wait to decorate with plants and photos and stuff, and I absolutely love my course. In my 2nd year I get to specialise and I managed to choose the streams that were the reason why I applied for this uni and this course in the first place.

In the end, my degree will read "Bsc International Business & Management, specialised in International Communication (Spanish) & Business Psychology".

I will be nicely busy with coursework, which I prefer over exams, and I will have to work as well to support myself and to pay for my exploration of the country which I havent really got to.
