Turkey Dreaaaaam sessions!
Turkey Dreeeam Sessions!
SUNDAY
So in honour of our host, Kemal’s, birthday, we headed out to be shown the night life of Turkey as there was no wind forecast for Sunday.  A lot of dancing was done and we then relaxed by Kemal’s pool and played with the dogs for the morning.

In the afternoon we headed into Cecme town to check out all the cool little shops, caf’s, soap stalls that look like real fruit, and do some filming around town.  We found the MOST INCREDIBLE sofa and chairs outside one shop so chilled there for a while!!

MONDAY
Monday morning the wind took a little while to pick up so we headed to a place called the caves on a mental off road track in the truck.  Its an amazing little cove with pure white chalk-like cliffs and amazing tunnels and passages to explore in the sea!

The wind then started to pick up so we paid a visit on the harbour master at Cecme to get permission to kite around the huge ships and right into the harbour.  He was super nice and keen that we kited into the harbour as his son is a kiter.  So we rigged up around the corner and kited round.  Everyone had come out to watch and there was a line of the coast guards and harbour staff watching and cheering!  We kited around the GIANT tankers and felt very small!!  We then made it into the harbour and kited around pontoons of boats!!  We had some hilarious launching and landing scenarios on the pontoons and eventually all made it safely in!

In the evening we headed round the corner from Kemal's to the Go Kart race track!!  I was quite thankful there was too many of us to go all at once so we decided to have a girly race and then the guys went!!  We caned it round the track, I was close on Jo's tail all the way with Ania in the front.  I couldn't find a way past Jo until the VERY LAST corner when she spun out and I dodged past and across the finish line!!  SO sorry Jo that was such bad luck!  Such a fun evening!

TUESDAY
Tuesday morning Jo, Ali B, James B, Ania, Expics Ian and I headed out of the house at 6am and headed to a spot three hours away in a place called Gokova.  Wilson was awake and up for driving so drank a can of iced coffee and jabbered non stop to herself for the entire drive as the rest of us were passed out in the back of the van!

We arrived relatively safely at Gokova, down an uber windy road and headed for brekkie in a caf before the wind kicked in.  We then got to the kite spot as the wind picked up to PERFECT 9m weather!  We stood on a rickety pontoon and gasped at the amazingly beautiful spot!  It is sort of shaped like Lake Garda and the wind funnels down between the two cliffs on either side and creates a funnel effect as the land heats up.

The rest of the day went as a dream with kiting in the flat water, up to the peir and up the reid lined streams!  Epic fun!!  We kited until the wind dropped and we were about to drop in the early evening and limped back to Kemal’s house!  Dreamy day!

WEDNESDAY
Wednesday morning we headed to another spot which is onshore into a lovely bay and the wind was howling!!!  I went out lit on the 5.5m AH Pro and we played in the fun little waves coming in.  Expics Ian headed around the cliff and got some wicked shots of the little swell coming in!  Back for lunch then Alicati and the crazy offshore spot again.  All pretty gusty we headed out all the same and got some more footage, including me taking out James while he was filming!  Nice!! I didn’t actually get him, he luckily moved in time!!  Sorry James!

THURSDAY
Thursday and our last day in Turkey.  We were determined to make the most of it so Jo and I woke the boys and made eggs to get them moving before heading to the North Point in Alicati.  We were soooo glad we had made effort as the wind was slightly more Northerly and much smoother.  We all played in and out infront of the little rock spit and James got some good footage that he wanted to get.

Back for lunch and it was then time to check out a new spot that Kemal had managed to get special permission for us to go and ride.  Forty minute drive and we stepped out of the truck to a dreamy view!!  There is a perfect cured spit which goes out into a huge inlet with mountains in the background.  It was perfect small kite weather across the spit to make butter flat water on the inside!!  After we had picked up our jaws from the ground, we put up some ‘Adrenaline Sports’ flags along the spit and set up for the final and most epic session of the trip!  Some families and inquisitive local children came over and reveled in the sights of this new sport!  They were wooping and cheering and surrounding poor James who was trying to film!  We all kited our hearts out and when the wind dropped a bit in the evening and the boys came in, they sat and shouted to tips to me to learn more powered kite loops on my 7m AH Pro… thanks Ali B and James!  Dreeeaaaaaamy session!

Ahhhhhh...!!!

We had to tear ourselves away, race back to Kemal’s, throw everything in bags and gunned it to the airport!  In time of course!!

So a HUGE thanks to Kemal for making such an amazing week and to the fabulous Turkish hospitality.  I definitely will be back!

Keep your eyes peeled for the Adrenaline Sports video out soon…!!!
