G'day Explorer Girls,
Walk Against Whaling is about to begin.
This Saturday, 10th October, I will be starting the 10 week 1500km solo walk to raise awareness and stop the annual Japanese whale hunt in Australian and Antarctic waters, including hunting in the Whale Sanctuary. I will start at 0900hrs from Melbourne's Bourke St Mall and plan to finish at 1300hrs at Newcastle Nobbys Beach on the 19th December.
Although it is a solo walk I encourage anyone interested to join me. It is a road walk passing through country and alpine Vic, NSW Snowy Mtns, Canberra to the coast and following the coastline to Newcastle. The itinerary can be found at www.walks.org.au
This is an advocacy walk and all donations and sponsorship raised will go directly to assist 2 other Australian non-profit organisations working to protect and conserve our marine environment, Sea Shepherd Australia (www.seashepherd.org) and ORRCA (www.orrca.org.au). The walk is fully self-funded and all members of Walks For Awareness are volunteer so no gifts are wasted or lost in administration or logistics.
Information, updates and news can be followed at www.walks.org.au
Cheers
Toni
